Watches

I've had a few watches during my student years; mostly digital Casios and at least one digital / analog Timex.

My first watch bought after I started working was a Citizen Wingman. Bought this one from a shop in Bukit Bintang Plaza. It was nice but the slide rule was quite sticky. It was used for about five years before being replaced by another Citizen.

My next watch is a Citizen Navihawk, with a better slide rule and triple time zone. It has a digital, analog and UTC time display; unlike many other watches I only need to set the time once and all the indications will revert to the set time zone. It really was a cool watch to have during my cargo years (1997-2000).

MAPA (Malaysia Airlines Pilots Association) Breitling Aerospace special edition, year 2000 (or was it 2001?)Didn't order it initially, what I got was one of the the few leftover from the 100 made. Mine is number 57. This one comes with the Aerospace bracelet; the Professional bracelet is better (and RM 400 more) but only available by pre-order.

When my Navihawk started to have problems after about 5 years of daily use, I used the Aerospace as the daily watch. The problem is that it started to get worn and scratched. I needed a cheaper daily watch, therefore I bought the Seiko Kinetic. It is a titanium watch with only basic function. The Aerospace was send for refurbishment.

Early this week I took delivery of the latest MAPA special, a stainless steel Breitling Avenger Seawolf. This is my first mechanical watch, also my heaviest to date. Also number 57 out of 100 made. Too bad, the titanium model was discontinued earlier.
